About Martin Luther King Jr.
Martin Luther King Jr. was an American Baptist minister and an influential social activist who led the civil rights movement during the mid-1950s in America.
King’s actual name was Michael King Jr. He was born in Atlanta, Georgia of the US on January 15th, 1929. He was awarded Nobel Peace Prize in 1964 for his immense contribution and leadership in a successful campaign to end African Americans’ segregation in most parts of America, all the while promoting the nonviolent tactics inspired by Mahatma Gandhi.
He was assassinated in 1968 on the 4th of April. He was merely 39 years of age when one of the most influential people in the history of mankind was shot dead.

Martin was fortunate to have been born into an educated extended family. He received a good education from a young age in a public school in Atlanta, and later joined the Booker T. Washington high school where he excelled at an exceptional rate.
He skipped both the 9th and 10th grades and entered Morehouse College at the tender age of 15. He received his graduation in Bachelor’s in arts and sociology from the college.
Later, he attended Crozer Theological Seminary for Bachelor in Divinity. By the age of just 25 years, King completed his Ph.D. and earned the degree in 1955.
